#100HappyDays Challenge: Day 3 Save Up Coffee Mug

save up 100 days of happy

Drinking coffee from my #SaveUp mug from Savings.com makes my day today. Drinking coffee = happy. Thinking of the next Save Up in San Antonio near the end of the July makes me happy.  I have been to several Save Up conferences in the past and they are always a great learning experience as well as a great time with blogging friends.

Can I be Happy for 100 Days in a Row? I’m up for the challenge as a reminder to enjoy every moment of every day!

The Flight to Orlando

After the big announcement on the day of the trip, we headed to the airport. Eli tells me he is afraid to fly and doesn’t want to go. I assure him it is very safe to fly and he flew once when he was around two years old. He knew we were planning on flying to Arizona in a few weeks but this was the first I’ve heard of his fears. He goes on and on about crashing, I’m sure loud enough for other passengers to hear.

Hey, I won’t lie, I get a little nervous flying too. My rational brain tells me statistically it is much safer to fly but there is something about being thousand of feet in the air with no control that makes me say my prayers before take off! It seems like the more I fly, the less nervous I get so that is a good sign.

As we were boarding, I mentioned that the little guy was a little scared to fly. What happened next was really cool and one of the many reasons I love to fly Southwest Airlines. The flight attendant asked if they wanted to see the Pilots and allowed them to visit with them for a minute where they were given wings. This seemed to ease Eli’s nervousness about getting in the air a little!

Sofia on the other hand only cared about the snacks. Asking me numerous times when the snacks would be there. I think she was disappointed we didn’t get cookies.

The kids did fabulous on the plane! Even sitting next to each other and NOT fighting. Unfortunately, things wouldn’t stay this good the entire trip. The good news is on the flight home, Eli announced he had “overcome his fear of flying.”

Stay tuned for more post as it was an adventure filled week – one that took me someplace I never thought I’d go nor can you pay to go, magical meltdowns, vegetarian meals, and of course, the actual conference.

Disclosure: I paid to attend the Disney Social Media Conference. In return, I received highly discounted park tickets, hotel, and a gift bag. There was no monetary compensation or posts required in exchange for this package.

The Disney Surprise

For the past few months, I’ve been hiding something from my kids. What’s that? WE ARE GOING TO DISNEY! With everything that has been going on, it was a welcome distraction for me.

I got into the Disney Social Media Moms Blog Conference for 2011 and decided to take my two youngest kids. They did not know until I picked them up to go to the airport.

I didn’t get the same reaction as some of the parents get in their Disney World surprise videos. In fact, my son flat out refused to believe me until I finally called my husband and he confirmed!

Not Ready for the World to Read?

“I have a blog but I’m not ready for it to be public.”

Oh, the shame, the horror. You could hear the gasps in the air.

To say that phrase at a blogging conference. Who would dare say such a thing? Blasphemy at a blogging conference.

Understandably, it was one of the people working to organize the conference. They weren’t there primarily as a blogger.

Of course, upon meeting anyone at a blogging conference, you want to know what their blog is. She said she had a personal blog but wasn’t ready for people to read it yet.

I completely relate.

Even though, I have another blog, which gets thousands of hits every day, I’m not ready for the world to read my personal blog. If someone stumbles upon it fine, but I’m not out there advertising it to the whole world.

First of all, why would anyone really care. Second of all, there are other sites that do the personal stuff much better.  Plus, will people still like me knowing all of this here?

I applaud those who do and can take the heat on their personal thoughts and life.

Even here in my personal space, I still feel I censor my thoughts and feelings. As a matter of fact, I have several “unpublished” posts ready to go when I’m ready. Will people still like me if I post all of my personal thoughts?

You know though. It’s okay. It is okay to have a blog and not want the whole world to read or have anyone read it.

When you are ready, you will know.

Encourage One Another and Build One Another Up

On my Food for the Poor Calendar, it has scripture from the Bible. When I read this at the beginning of the month, I was amazed at how timely it was to my life.

Therefore, encourage one another and build one another as, as indeed you do.

1 Thessalonians 5:11

It seems to be quite fitting in this give me, give me, its all about me age. Not only is it applicable in my real life, it is applicable in my blogging life as well.

So many people, it is all about them and tearing people down instead of building them up. When we help to build others up and do unselfish acts, it in turn helps to bring us UP as well.

For example, when I link to other blogs. It gives them traffic as well as allowing my blog readers to find other relevant reading options. As much as I want to,  I really can’t be the complete, absolute resource to my readers  as it is just be running my blog. It doesn’t hurt to me share my traffic. My blog wouldn’t have grown if it hadn’t been for others linking to me.

So when I link to others, in turn those blogs may or may not link to me. It is about building relationships. Bringing people up and not tearing them down.

Too many times lately have I heard or seen others bringing other people down in a variety of ways. I don’t want to be a part of bringing people down. I want to be a person to help build them up!
